This Monday, a Georgia appeals court ruled in favor of the Democratic Party of Georgia, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and Warnock for Georgia that allows counties in the state to offer early voting on the Saturday before the run-off election between Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker.

Black Voters Matter co-founders Cliff Albright and LaTosha Brown, and National Legal Director April Albright, issued the following statement:

“Black Voters Matter applauds the Georgia appeals court decision to allow counties in Georgia to offer early voting this coming Saturday in the U.S. Senate runoff election between Sen. Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker. This is a win for voters, for Warnock, and for our democracy.

“Fighting to expand access for working people to be able to cast their ballot on a weekend, particularly given the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, is not only fair but critical for this important election.

“It is extremely disappointing that Secretary Brad Raffensperger chose to appeal this decision, a move that clearly reinforces his willingness to engage in voter suppression tactics by creating barriers that prevent Georgians of all races and backgrounds from the most fundamental right to vote.”
