Let’s Get In-Formation. Take the Field!

Calling all students, it’s time to Take the Field!

Take the Field is a campaign that seeks to inspire, train and engage students around issues such as:

  • Racism
  • Mental health
  • Police violence
  • Climate change
  • Voter suppression
  • Student loan debt
  • Education inequity and more!

From the Greensboro Sit-ins, Atlanta Student Movement, 1968 Uprisings at Howard University, and more; students have always been at the forefront of the movement, leading protests during the civil rights movement of the 1960s, the anti-war movement of the 1970s, and the anti-apartheid movement of the 1980s.

The Mission

Take the Field is part of BVM’s mission to expand Black voter engagement and increase progressive power, starting at the grassroots level. The campaign will include capacity-building training for student teams to provide guidance on what campus activism can look like and how best to prepare. Here’s how we’re making that happen:

  • BVM will provide grants to student-led groups starting at $500
  • We’ll be hosting trainings and providing additional materials to help students organize more effectively
  • We’ll provide opportunities for amplification of your work, so that student voices reach a larger audience

Youth activism is critical to the protection of our democracy and ensuring that Black communities are treated fairly and equitably. We can’t wait to partner with you, our future leaders!
